• How are poverty and education linked?

these two things are linked because in America, once you have gone to a public school, you still need to go to college (to be really independent) which you have to pay to get into. So if you are poor you have less chances to get a full education and to one day be fully independent.

Education of Girls in India

• Why are some girls excluded from getting an education?

Some girls in India don't get to go to school because their families believe that they need to do housework while their brothers are in school and their parents working. Also girls have to get married at a young age.

• How does education foster independence in people?

If someone wants to be independent when they grow up, they have to be knowledgeable, know about life and how to get on with it. School provides all this knowledge and more.

• Will it be important for you to be independent someday?

Yes, someday I want to be able to leave home and get a good job. it is important that I become independent when I grow up because my parents won't always be here to fix my problems.

Why did the rebels and government soldiers want to use children as soldiers?
Rebels and the government used children as soldiers because they are easy to manipulate as they are: smaller, weaker, away from their parents, drugged and hungry.

Why do you think that many of the children said that they have "not future" ?
Maybe because they had such a terrible past that now they can't do anything in life to forget or to erase these atrocities they have done or the ones that have been done to them.

What is Happening to Sudan?

1.) genocide is a crime, it is what happened to Sudan. It is a list of things declared illegal by the goverment of Sudan in 1948.

2.) A civil war is when a country has disagrements, so two different groups form and get in a war. The civil warf in sudan has been going on for 17 years. This civil war is happening because Northern Sudan has taken over so southern Sudan wants rights too.

3.) Civillians have been : killed, raped, tortured... These are the atrocities that have been done.

4.) right now in Sudan people are voting for dividing Sudan and making the Southern part a brand new country.

5.) In 1983 the goverment ordered that all the Dinka people had to be killed. During the attack some of the boys escaped. they wandered around for several days, they suffered, a lot of died of hunger. They are the lost boys of sudan.

What I Care About

I care about my family, my mom, my dad, my two sisters and my grandparents. I also care about my friends but I know that even when I will have troubles with my friends I know that my family will always stay my best friends no matter what. If I fall they will always be there to catch me. Also if my family wasn't here I wouldn't have anybody to talk with if I have problems at school. Also thanks of my mom and dad I am a (hopefully) well educated child. I love my family.
